My First Guitar
Wanting to learn to play music as soon as I heard my brothers SteppenWolf’s album. Surrounded by musician friends I figured out that I would start out by playing harmonica. When I suggested the idea to my first, she said don’t bother. After that relationship ended, I bought my first guitar in 1975. Had just gotten an income tax check back for $350 so I went to the local guitar shop. A little place called Bucks county music. The owner‘s name was Karl, an older fella probably in his 30s. lol. And I gave him all my money for that first guitar. It was a Guild, can’t remember the model number but it was a great starter. One thing I learned right in the beginning was… if you’re serious about learning music you’ve got to buy a good axe that inspires you. I’ve made different decisions to buy guitars over the years but the number one for me is what it did to me when I picked it up and start playing it. If it didn’t give me a song and inspire me to put chords together then I knew it wasn’t the right guitar for me. I never bought the guitar based on what it looked like. Over the years I bought and sold hundreds of guitars. I was never a dealer. Most the time when I sold them it was because I needed the money.
